Question : WI FI AT METRO RAIL



(a) whether the Government proposes to provide Wi-Fi accessibility at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) trains as well as in the station premises and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the DMRC has invited proposals from mobile operators to install Wi-Fi hotspots at Delhi metro stations and trains;

(c) if so, the details thereof and the modalities and conditions to implement Wi-Fi facilities; and

(d) the details of funds allocated to implement this proposal and the time by which it is likely to be operational?

(a): Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (DMRC) has informed that they have planned to provide Wi-Fi facility in trains as well as stations on the new lines i.e. Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar line and Janakpuri West-Kalindi Kunj line, which is part of Delhi MRTS Phase-III project.

(b)to(d): DMRC has informed that they have floated a tender to explore the possibility of providing Wi-Fi facility for their existing Metro Rail network. The open tender for providing Wi-Fi facility in the existing network envisages total investment and operational expenditure by the Wi-Fi system provider.
