(a): Yes, Sir.
(b): The Union Ministry of Agriculture in September 1997 had accorded approval to the proposal of Government of Karnataka for expansion of the existing fishing harbour at Mangalore as stage-II at a cost of Rs.75 lakhs under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The central share to the tune of 50% of the project amounting to Rs.37.50 lakhs has been released in two instalments to the State Government.
The Government of Karnataka have indicated their intention to have the fishing harbour expanded as Stage-III for which
(i) an evaluation to assess the utility of the existing harbour facilities is to be completed and
(ii) the State Government is to submit the completion report of Stage-II.
