Question : Vacancies in Central and State Control Boards

(a) the total number of vacancies existing in the Central and State Pollution Control Boards against the sanctioned manpower at both Central and State level; and
(b) the steps being taken to address the skilled manpower shortage in Central Pollution Control Boards of the country?

(a) A total of 79 positions are vacant in Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in different cadres against the total sanctioned strength of 521.

As per information received from State Pollution Control Boards(SPCBs)/Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) of a total sanctioned strength of 9440 in different cadres of all SPCBs/PCCs are 4163 posts are vacant.

(b):Filling up of vacant positions in Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) is an ongoing process. As and when the vacancy arises, due process is initiated to fill up the vacancy.
