(a), (b)& (c) This Ministry has not received any proposals in this regard. However, Government
of Andhra Pradesh has received following representations from fishermen groups for which they
are taking appropriate action.
(i) East Godavari district: Loss of livelihood due to drilling operations for oil natural gas
and pipe laying activities by Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC). A committee was
constituted and as per its approval, GSPC agreed to give relief to affected fishermen and
their families.
(ii) Visakhapatnam District: Pollution due to discharge of effluents into the sea due to
Industries of Pharmacity and loss to the livelihood of the fishermen.
(iii) Nellore district: Financial assistance at par with the fisherwomen of the evacuated
villages as the construction of Krishnapatnam Port caused lack of work to the men and women
of the affected villages,
