Question : Verification of Passport by Delhi Police

(a) whether it is a fact that the inspectors of verification department of Delhi Police do not accept date of birth mentioned in class 10th certificate instead
applicant’s birth certificate is accepted for passport making whereas they are made to write that their passport could not be made due to unavailability of their birth certificates particularly in Delhi;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the guidelines issued in this regard to bring transparency in passport verification and issuing thereof through easy and smooth procedure of passport making?

(a) and (b): As reported by Delhi Police, 10th Class Certificate is accepted by Delhi Police as the proof of date of birth for the purpose of passport. In addition, the under mentioned documents are also accepted for the said purpose:
1. Birth Certificate issued by the Registrar of Births & Deaths of the Municipal Corporation
2. Transfer / School Leaving Certificate

3. PAN card issued by the Income Tax Department
4. Aadhaar Card having the Date of Birth (DOB) of the applicant
5. Driving License issued by the Transport Department
6. Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC)
The list of above mentioned documents is displayed on the official website of Delhi Police www.delhipolice.gov.in .
(c): A Standing Operating Procedure (SOP) No. 902-26/APP/SB dated 02.08.2021 containing detailed guidelines of passport verification has been issued by Delhi Police.
