Question : FIXATION OF LICENCE FEE



(a) whether the rate of licence fee for the Government Flats are likely to be decided according to the prevailing market rent;

(b) whether in view of the increasing rate of maintenance and other residential problems it is proposed to handover the responsibility of construction, management, maintenance of the Government flats to private sector;

(c) whether non-conventional energy sources would be used in Government Flats Complexes; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) No, Sir. The rate of license fee is determined with reference to pooled Capital Cost of such flats as laid down in the relevant Rules.

(b) At present, construction of quarters is being done through contractors. For day to day petty repairs only, railway staff are engaged. For major repairs also, works are done through contractors. There is no proposal for any change in the existing practice in this regard.

(c) & (d) Feasibility of using non-conventional energy sources in Government Flats/ complexes for lighting and hot water supply is being explored on experimental basis.
