Question : Online Transfer of Funds

(a) whether the Government plans to soon launch a service allowing online transfer of funds between postal and bank accounts as part of “Anytime-anywhere Post Office Savings” and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the post offices across the States are connected with the core banking system and if so, the details thereof;

(c) the steps being taken to resolve the same and also identify post offices which are/were in rural areas; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the present status thereto?

(a). Government plans to launch a service allowing online transfer of funds between postal and bank account as a part of “Anytime-anywhere Post Office Savings”. The Government is working for providing NEFT and RTGS facilities for online transfer of funds from post office accounts to bank accounts and vice versa.

(b) Yes Sir, out of a total of 1,58,526 post offices across the country in various states 1,52,514 post offices have already been brought under the core banking system.

(c) & (d) Department is taking steps to provide alternate connectivity through various options like Intermediate Data Rate (IDR) connectivity, Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection and Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) connectivity and provision of Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) based handheld and point of sale devices in the identified post offices which are in rural, hilly and difficult areas.
