(a) the contribution of small scale industrial sector towards the employment generation, total industrial production and export;
(b) the present policy of the Government with regard to this sector; and
(c) the extent to which this policy has been helpful for nurturing and strengthening this sector?
THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF SMALL SCALE INDUSTRIES AND AGRO AND RURAL INDUSTRIES (SMT. VASUNDHARA RAJE)
(a): The contribution of the small scale sector towards employment generation in the industrial sector is estimated at 35.45%. During the year 1998-99, the contribution of the small scale sector towards total industrial production and exports were 39.07% and 34.59% respectively.
(b): The present policy of the Government is to impart greater vitality and growth impetus to the SSI sector to enable it to contribute its mite fully to the economy, particularly in terms of growth of output, employment and exports.
(c): The policy measures taken by the Government have helped the SSI sector to maintain sustained rate of growth, contribute significantly to the growth of output, generate employment, earn foreign exchange and develop a strong entrepreneurial base.
