Question : Skill Training to Unemployed Youth

(a) whether it is a fact that training and employment were to be given to the unemployed youth under skill development scheme;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the number of unemployed youth who were imparted training in Maharashtra and the number of youth, out of them, who got employment during the last three years and the current year so far?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) TO (C) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 110 TO BE ANSWERED ON 10.02.2020 ASKED BY SHRIMATI POONAM MAHAJAN REGARDING SKILL TRAINING TO UNEMPLOYED YOUTH

(a) and (b) Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is implementing demand driven scheme Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 2016-20 for short duration skill development training (Short-Term Training (STT) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)) in the country. Placement opportunities are being provided to certified candidates under STT.

As on 17.01.2020, 40.27 lakh and 32.34 lakh candidates have been trained and certified under STT, respectively. Out of certified candidates, 16.62 lakh candidates (wage employment – 13.70 lakh; self employment – 2.60 lakh and apprenticeship – 0.32 lakh) have been provided with placement across the country. In addition, 33.20 lakh candidates have been oriented under RPL.

(c) In the State of Maharashtra, as on 17.01.2020, 1.67 lakh candidates have been trained under STT. Out of 1.18 lakh certified candidates under STT of PMKVY (2016-20), 0.49 lakh candidates (wage employment – 0.40 lakh; self employment – 0.08 lakh and apprenticeship – 0.015 lakh) have been provided with placement. In addition, 5.63 lakh candidates have been oriented under RPL.
