Question : Development of Sabeya Airport under UDAN scheme

(a) the details of the airport/airfield included for development under UDAN Scheme in Bihar;

(b) whether Sabeya airfield in Gopalganj of Bihar has been included under the UDAN scheme and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether Sabeya airfield has 571 acre of land enough for connecting with UDAN scheme in Bihar and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether any representations/requests has been received to include Sabeya air field under UDAN scheme and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): Sabeya (Hathua) is a Defence airstrip located in Gopalganj District, Bihar. Sabeya airstrip is available in the list of unserved airport in the UDAN Document. None of the airline has bid to operate UDAN flights from Sabeya airport so far. UDAN is market driven scheme. The interested airlines based on their assessment of demand on particular routes submit their proposals at the time of bidding under UDAN from time to time. An airport which is included in the awarded routes of UDAN and requires upgradation/development for commencement of UDAN operations is developed under "Revival of unserved and underserved airports" scheme. Darbhanga airport has already been operationalized under UDAN.
