Question : AYUSH Medical Centres

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government plans to open AYUSH Medical Centres/Ayurvedic Colleges as well as Regional Research Centre in the country, State/UT-wise during the current year; and

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the allocation of fund for each of them?

(a) & (b): As health is a state subject, opening of AYUSH Medical Centres/Ayurvedic Colleges in the country comes under the purview of respective State/UT Governments. However, under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM), there is a provision of financial assistance for opening of upto 50-bedded integrated AYUSH Hospital and New AYUSH Educational Institutions including Ayurvedic Colleges in the States where it is not available in Government sector. As per the proposal received, six number of upto 50 bedded integrated AYUSH Hospital during the current year has been approved as per details enclosed in Annexure. However, under NAM no proposal has been received from the State/UT Government for opening of Ayurvedic Colleges during the current year.
Further, as far as opening of Regional Research Centre is concerned, it has been decided to establish 02 post graduate institute of Yoga & Naturopathy Education and Research Centre at Jhajjar (Haryana) and Nagamanagala (Karnataka) under Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy, an autonomous organization of Ministry and released an amount of Rs. 41.42 crores & 35.60 crores respectively. Similarly, under various streams viz Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Sowa Rigpa & Homoeopathy 83 number of Regional Research Centres are working in different parts of the country.
