Question : IMPLEMENTATION OF PMAGY

(a) the criteria/guidelines for selection of villages under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY);

(b) the details of the various States participating in the pilot scheme along with the details of the Central assistance sanctioned, released and utilised under the Yojana since its inception, State-wise;

(c) whether the Government has reviewed the implementation of the pilot scheme and if so, the details thereof along with the outcome of such review;

(d) whether the Government is considering to extend the scheme to other States/districts; and

(e) if so, the details thereof along with the timeframe fixed in this regard?

(a) : As per Census, 2001, there are 44,080 villages, spread across 25 States and 2 UTs, having more than 50% Scheduled Caste (SC) population. It was decided to cover only 1,000 of such villages in the pilot phase, under the Scheme. Presently the pilot scheme is being implemented in five States – one each from five regions of the country, selected as per following criteria:

Scheme. So it was replaced by Himachal Pradesh in February 2011.
