Question : Central Research Institution

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the establishment of Central Research Institution (CRI) in various States is being delayed by the Government on one pretext or the other;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(c) the number of States provided/ offered land free of cost to the Union Government for establishment of CRI in their respective State so far, State/UT-wise; and

(d) the details of the funds provided by the Government for establishment of CRI in such States since providing/offering land by these States/UTs along with its utilisation?

(a) & (b): No. Ministry of AYUSH has set-up five autonomous Research Councils, namely, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Central Council for Research in Homoeopahty (CCRH), Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) and Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN) as apex bodies for formulation, coordination, development and promotion of research activities in traditional medicine systems for various diseases. A total of 82 institutes are functioning under these councils.

(c) & (d): The details of the land provided by the State Govt. free of cost to construct new institutions are as under:-

Central Research Institution (CRI) under Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy Karnataka Rs.15.18 crore
Haryana Rs.15.89 crore
Odisha Rs.01.58 crore
Central Research Institution (CRI) under Central Council for Research in Siddha Tamil Nadu Rs.20.74 crore

Further, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal & Rajasthan have offered cost free land for establishment of Central Research Institution (CRI) under Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy.
