Question : LIVELIHOOD TO TRIBALS



(a) whether the Government has set up a foundation with a corpus fund of Rs. 500 crore to provide livelihood to tribals in about 900 blocks, spread over 170 districts of 10 States, to strengthen its anti-naxalite campaign in coordination with Planning Commission; and

(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise?

(a) The Government has set up Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation (BRLF) as an independently registered Society to facilitate and upscale civil society action in partnership with the Government for transforming lives and livelihoods of the rural households. The Government has approved a corpus fund of Rs. 500 crore to be released in two tranches to BRLF. The first tranche of Rs. 200 crore has been released to BRLF. The second tranche of Rs. 300 crorecan be released after BRLF meets the conditions set for it.

(b) As per available information, BRLF would initially cover 873 blocks across 155 districts in 9 States as below:
