(a) & (b) Yes, Sir. To draft an auto policy a committee comprising
representatives of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Automotive
Component Manufacturers Association, Directorate General of Foreign Trade,
Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ministry of Environment and Forest,
Ministry of Surface Transport, Ministry of Agriculture and Automotive
Research Association of India, Pune has been constituted on 10.7.2000 under
the chairmanship of Secretary(Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises).
(c) The extent of benefits to auto industry will became clear only after
the policy is finalized.
