(a) the number of telephone connections provided in Bihar during the last three years and
till date, district-wise;
(b) the number of telephones lying out of order in the State at present;
(c) whether the rural telephone system has collapsed in various districts of the State;
(d) if so, the reasons therefor; and
(e) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) 385621 telephone connections have been provided in Bihar during the last three
years (1997-98, 1998-99, 1999-2000) and till 30.11.2000. District-wise details are given in
Annexure.
(b) As on 30.11.2000, 13% of the telephones were out of order in Bihar due to various
reasons.
(c) No, Sir.
(d) & (e): Does not arise in view of (c) above.
