Question : World Food India

(a) Whether the Government had organized World Food India in the year 2017 with an objective to attract investment from domestic and foreign investor;

(b) If so, whether the Government has been able to achieve its objective, if so, the details thereof and if not the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Government now proposes to organize World Food India (WFI), 2019;

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the details of the main theme of World Food India (WFI), 2019;

(e) the details of the countries which are going to participate in the said event; and

(f) whether the Government proposes large scale investment opportunities in Food Processing Industries (FPIs) in the upcoming World Food India, 2019 gathering, if so, the details thereof and the steps taken/being taken by the Government to promote Food Processing industries and explore new avenues for their development and growth?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): Yes, Sir. World Food India 2017 witnessed participation of 61countries, 27 States of India and 60 global CEOs, among others. There were close to 800 global and domestic exhibitors and around 75000 business visitors. Investment intent of about USD 13.56 billion was received during the event.

(c): Yes, Sir.

(d): The main theme of the event would again be to attract investment from domestic and foreign investors in the food processing sector. The event will feature exhibitions, seminars, country and state sessions and B2B meetings for investment facilitation.

(e): The details of the countries which are going to participate in the event are not yet final.

(f): The various State Governments will highlight the opportunities available with them for investment in the food processing sector. Various seminars and workshops are held across the country with the help of apex industry associations to promote food processing industries as also the various schemes being implemented by the government under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY).
