Question : Gram Ujala Programme

(a) the details of the States in which the Gram Ujala Programme has been implemented/proposed to be implemented;

(b) whether Vijayawada has been identified for the launch of the first phase of Gram Ujala Programme;

(c) if so, the details thereof along with the outcome of above intervention with particular reference to Andhra Pradesh;

(d) the steps taken/being taken to generate awareness about the programme amongst beneficiaries;

(e) whether the Government proposes to launch the second phase of the Gram Ujala Programme; and

(f) if so, the details thereof along with the time by which it is likely to be launched?

STATEMENT

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (f) OF STARRED QUESTION NO. 173 ANSWERED IN THE LOK SABHA ON 28.07.2022 REGARDING GRAM UJALA PROGRAMME

(a) : Gram Ujala Programme has been implemented by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) in the States of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana on a pilot basis.

(b) & (c) : Under Gram Ujala Programme by CESL, the rural areas of Kurnool, Kadapa, Chittoor and Guntur Districts of Andhra Pradesh were indentified for implementation.

(d) : Various awareness activities were carried out by CESL/authorized agencies for the usage of LED bulbs amongst beneficiaries such as local/national media outreach, information, dissemination through radio/TV and other modes of media like banners, posters, leaflets etc.

(e) & (f) : Expansion of Gram Ujala by CESL would depend upon the success of the pilot phase in terms of financial viability.
