Question : Complaints regarding NHs

(a) the details of the complaints and grievances received by the Government regarding the quality of work of construction/development of the National Highways (NHs)/roads during the last three years and the current year and the details of action taken thereon, State-wise including Rajasthan;

(b) whether the Government has formulated any mechanism for the monitoring/testing the quality of construction/development work of the National Highways/roads;

(c) if so, the details of the inspection undertaken by them along with the concerned officials directed to resolve complaints and grievances from public expeditiously during the said period; and

(d) the steps taken by the Government to ensure the quality of construction of the National Highways/roads?

(a) The details of the complaints and grievances received by the Ministry regarding the quality of work of construction/development of the National Highways (NHs)/roads during the last three years and the current year are annexed.

(b) to (d) The National Highways are constructed as per the IRC guidelines and Ministry’s standard specifications for Roads and Bridge works. Regular testing of construction material and samples are carried out on the site by the Engineer. Whenever there is a defect in the construction, the same is rectified by the contractor within the defects liability period. In addition to Engineer, Ministry has also appointed National Project Monitors for inspecting the site and monitoring the quality of roads.
