Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS
(SHRI RAMESWAR TELI)
(a) to (c) Establishment of CNG Stations is part of the development of City Gas Distribution
(CGD) network and the same is carried out by the entities authorized by Petroleum and Natural
Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB). PNGRB identifies Geographical Areas (GAs) for authorizing
the development of CGD network in synchronization with the development of natural gas
pipeline connectivity and natural gas availability. About 232 GAs covering 407 districts spread
over 27 States/UTs including Uttar Pradesh have been authorized for the development of CGD
networks. List of GAs in Uttar Pradesh authorized by PNGRB is at Annexure. Planning and
implementation of expansion of CGD network is done by PNGRB based on availability of
natural gas pipeline/source and techno-commercial viability.
(d) and (e) PNGRB has authorized Bhagalpur District to Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL)
as a part of Lakhisarai, Munger and Bhagalpur Districts GA for development of CGD network.
