Question : GAUGE CONVERSION OF KADUR-SAKLESHPUR AND MYSORE-CHAMARAJANAGAR RAIL LINE



(a) whether the Government of Karnataka had requested the Union Government to include Kadur-Sakleshpur and Mysore-Chamarajanagar rail lines for gauge conversion;

(b) if so, the present status of these proposals; and

(c) the allocation made for the on-going gauge conversion between Mangalore and Hassan during the current financial year?

(a) & (b): The work of new line from Kadur to Sakleshpur and gauge conversion of Mysore-Chamarajanagar are already included in the railway budget. On Kadur-Chikmagalur-Sakleshpur project, earthwork and bridges on part of the length between Kadur-Chikmagalur are in progress. For Mysore-Chamarajanagar project, requisite clearances have been obtained and preparation of plans and estimates have been taken up.

(c): Outlay during 2001-02 is Rs. 58.1 crore.
