(a) whether the Government proposes to lay more emphasis on development of agriculture in the hilly regions; and

(b) if so, the steps taken by the Government in this regard including Maharashtra, State-wise?

(a)&(b): The Centrally Sponsored Schemes and the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana of the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation are for the development of agriculture in all parts of the country including hilly regions.However for the North Eastern States & hilly states like J & K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Sikkim, a scheme ‘Technology Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture in North Eastern States including Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir,Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand’ is being implemented in the horticulture sector. Department of Agriculture & Cooperation is implementing a number of Centrally Sponsored Scheme to increase the productivity and production in the agriculture sector in the country like
(i) Integrated Scheme of Pulses, Oilpalm and Maize
(ii) National Horticulture Mission
(iii) National Food Security Mission
(iv) Micro Irrigation
(v) Macro Management of Agriculture
(iv) National Bamboo Mission
(vii) Technology Mission on Cotton
(viii) Support to State Extension Programmes for Extensions Reforms and
(ix) National Project on Management of Soil Health & Fertility.A State Plan Scheme ‘Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana’ is also being implemented in the entire country including all hilly areas.
