Question : PRODUCTION FROM MURPAR COAL MINE



(a) whether the forest land is proving a hurdle in the way of commencement of production from the Murpar coal mine in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra;

(b) if so, the forest land in terms of hectares required for commencement of the said project;

(c) the time by which the extraction of coal from the Murpar coal mine is likely to be commenced; and

(d) the steps proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard?

MINISTER FOR COAL AND MINES (SUSHREE UMA BHARATI)

(a) & (b): Clearance for forest land for Murpar coal mine has already been received. Mining Rights for working under 658.78 Ha of forest land has been obtained from Ministry of Environment & Forests. 0.50Ha of forest land has been acquired for infrastructure development.

(c) & (d): Ministry of Environment & Forest has since approved the Environmental Management Plan. Based on this approval, Maharashtra State Pollution Control Board is being approached to give consent for operation of this mine. As soon as the consent to operate the mine is obtained, production will start.
