Question : HIMACHAL GRAMIN BANK



(a) whether the Government/RBI has received applications for issue of licences for setting up Gramin Banks in Himachal Pradesh:

(b) if so, the details thereof, location-wise

(c) the action taken by the Government thereon; and

(d) the time by which these banks are likely to be functional?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (S.S.PALANIMANICKAM)

(a), (b), (c) & (d) : A proposal from Himachal Gramin Bank for opening of four new branches at Amroh

(Hamirpur Distt.), Chintpurni (Una District), Amb (Una Distt.) and Ghumuarwin (Bilaspur Distt.) was received by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) through National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development

(NABARD) on July 31, 2004. The approval for issue of licences for opening the aforesaid branches has been conveyed by RBI to its Regional Office on December 6, 2004.
