Question : Yoga Centres-Ayurvedic Hospitals at Tourist Places

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has set up Yoga centres and Ayurvedic hospitals at various tourist places in the country keeping in view the increasing popularity/ impact of Yoga and Ayurveda in the country so as to provide their benefits to the foreign tourists;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government is considering to set up Yoga centres and integrated Ayurvedic hospitals in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh which is included in the list of World Heritage Sites of UNESCO and is visited by lakhs of tourists across the world;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

ANSWER

(a) & (b): Since Public Health is a State subject, setting up of Yoga centres and Ayurvedic hospitals for awareness about Yoga and Ayurveda in their respective domains falls under the purview of the respective State/ UT governments.
However, at Central level, the Ministry of AYUSH through its autonomous bodies namely Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), New Delhi, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), New Delhi and Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), New Delhi actively promote various activities related to Yoga and Ayurveda among people including foreign tourists.
(c) to (e): There is no proposal currently with this Ministry to open Yoga centres and integrated Ayurvedic hospitals in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh.
