Question : Maintenance of Bridges

(a) the details of small/big bridges in Uttar Pradesh which are required to be repaired or renovated, district-wise;

(b) the steps being taken by the Government for repair or renovation of these dilapidated and dangerous bridges;

(c) the expenditure likely to be incurred for the purpose; and

(d) the time by which the said work is likely to be completed?

(a) to (d) Development and maintenance of National Highways (NHs) is a continuous process. Works on NHs are accordingly taken up as per inter-se-priority, traffic density and available resources. Based on condition survey, the repairs/ rehabilitation or reconstruction of major/minor bridges, culverts etc. are generally taken up along with the widening/improvement work of the NH stretch. Standalone project of repair/rehabilitation or reconstruction of major/minor bridges are also taken up. As on date total 55 widening/improvement works on NHs in Uttar Pradesh costing to Rs. 46865 crore are in various stages of implementation with completion period of 2-3 years.
