(a) whether the Private Equity investments in the Telecom Sector dropped sharply during April-October, 2009;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and
(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to avoid such drops in future?

(a) to (c) Department of Telecommunications does not maintain data on Private Equity investment. However, actual Foreign Direct Investment inflow in the Telecom Sector during April-October 2008 was to the tune of Rs. 8,924 Crore, which has increased to Rs. 9,815 Crore during April-September 2009 itself.
