(a) whether pay of officers of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and Central Board of
Excise and Customs (CBEC) was revised w.e.f. 21st April, 2004;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether same conditions of such pay revision are made applicable to officials of other
departments and Ministries like Railways, Organized Accounts Departments, etc.; and
(d) if so, the details thereof, department/organization/agency-wise and if not the
reaction of the
Government thereto?

(a)&(b): The pay scales of the posts of Income Tax Officers and Income Tax inspectors
under Central Board of Direct Taxes and posts of Appraisers, Superintendents (Central Excise),
Superintendents (Customs Preventive), Inspector (Central Excise), Examiners, Customs and
Preventive Officers were revised as per Department of Expenditure`s O.M. No.6/37/98-IC dated
21st April, 2004 as under:-
