(a) whether the Government and examined the recommendations of the Expert Group to revise the Consumer Protection Act, 1986;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the action taken thereon; and

(d) the time by which these recommendations are likely to be implemented ?

(a) & (d): Yes, Sir. All the recommendations received from various sources including the recommendations of the Expert Group have been examined in consultation with concerned Ministries/Departments for amendment of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 to made it more purposeful and effective and also to smoothen the functioning of the Consumer Courts for quicker disposal of consumer complaints. The draft Amendment Bill is being prepared in consultation with the Ministry of Law. It is the endeavor of the Government to introduce the Amendment Bill in Parliament as soon as possible.
