(a) whether the Government have drawn up plans for building road over bridges at important and busy railway crossings in Punjab;
(b) if so, the places where such over-bridges are proposed to be built up during the next one year;
(c) the details and the present status of the under construction road over bridges, location-wise; and
(d) the time by which these bridges are likely to be constructed;

(a) & (b). Proposals for construction of Road Over Bridges are sponsored by State Govts. Railway consider replacement of busy level crossings, having traffic density of one lakh or more TVUs (Trains Vehicle Units – a unit obtained by multiplying the number of trains with the number of Road vehicles passing over the level crossing in 24 hours), by ROBs/RUBs on cost sharing basis if proposed by State Govt. The proposals received from Govt. of Punjab fulfilling the preliminary pre-requisites have already been sanctioned by Railway.
(c). A Statement is attached.
(d) Construction of ROBs is a joint work of Railways & State Govt. The Railway constructs the bridge proper across railway tracks and the State Govt. constructs the approaches. Construction of Bridge proper is planned to be completed by Railway before or along-with the completion of the work of construction of approaches by the State Govt..

(c) Railway has planned to construct following Road Over Bridges on cost sharing basis in Punjab.

2. Jallandhar-ROB in lieu of Do-moria Pul. 1997-98 The detailed estimate sanctioned. State Govt. yet to plan the work of approaches. Profile sketch under revision with them. Work on Railways portion shall be taken up after the work on approaches starts.
3. Sirhind-ROB in lieu of level crossing No.144-B 1998-99 Work in progress. All piles cast, pile caps & 23 nos. columns cast.
4. Sunam-ROB in lieu of level crossing No. A-76. 99-2000 Revised profile sketch approved. Detailed estimate under process. Tenders opened for Railway’s portion. Soil testing done.
5. Rajpura- ROB in lieu of level crossing No. 135-A. 99-2000 Revised profile sketch approved. Detailed estimate sanctioned. G.A. Plan under approval & Tender invited.
6. Bhatinda Yard ROB in lieu of Level crossing 2000-01 Profile sketch approved. Soil testing No. 245A at km. 297/7-8 completed. Estimate awaited from State Govt.
