Question : Poaching Cases

(a) whether the Government is aware of any poaching cases of endangered and rare wildlife (listed in Scheduled I, II, III and IV of Indian Wildlife Act 1972) in twin Districts of Ladakh, if so, the details of cases registered since 2014;
(b) the details of culprits convicted as per law and the details of the outcome of these cases and if not, the reaction of the Government thereto; and
(c) whether the Government has any report of Wildlife Crimes and Wildlife Trades from UT Ladakh in the recent years and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a)and (b) The protection and management of wildlife and its habitat is undertaken by the concerned States/Union Territories. Information pertaining to poaching cases is not collated at the level of the Ministry.

(c) As per the records available in the Wild Life Crime Control Bureau, two wildlife cases relating to killing of Urial sheep have been reported in Ladakh. The cases were detected in Nimmo and Gaya Meru.
