STATEMENT ATTACHED TO THE REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 336 FOR REPLY ON 18th AUGUST, 2004.

(a)to(c): Yes Sir. The Government is conscious about the needs of the small scale industries, which are fulfilled by various policy measures announced from time to time. Accordingly, in the Comprehensive Policy Package announced by the Government in August, 2000, measures to improve and facilitate the availability of infrastructure, credit, marketing and technology etc. were announced so as to enhance the domestic and global competitiveness of small scale industries. There is no separate policy for medium industries in this country. The ministry is in the process of formulating a major promotional package for the SSI sector. The details of the package are being worked out.
