Question : Text Books

(a) whether it is a fact that the NCERT is unable to fulfil the demands of text books of the States/UTs;
(b) if so, the details thereof and reasons therefor ; and
(c) the action taken by the Government to provide adequate number of text books for the students before the commencement of the academic session ?

(a) No, Madam.
(b) Does not arise.
(c) The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is in a position to provide adequate number of copies of NCERT textbooks to the students, as per demand. NCERT has digitalized all its text books and has made them available on its web-site ncert.nic.in. NCERT has also made available all their textbooks for free access through the web (epathshala.nic.in) and all mobile devices. The collections include textbooks for all classes in English, Hindi and Urdu versions, which are made available for free download and dissemination.
