Question : Revival of Textile Industry

(a) whether the Government is considering concrete measures that will revive the textile industry and increase production;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the textile industry has sought working capital at 4 per cent interest subvention to purchase cotton; and

(d) if so, the decision taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b): Government has launched various policy initiatives and schemes such as the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS), Schemes for the development of the Powerloom Sector, Schemes for Technical Textiles, Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP), Integrated Skill Development Scheme, etc. covering all segments of textiles including Handlooms and Handicrafts with the objectives of increasing production, exports and employment. Accordingly, the Textile industry has been growing in terms of production. The data for the last three years is given below:-
