Question : Enhancement of Funds for Toilets

Will the Minister of URBAN DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government proposes to enhance the funds provided for construction of Individual Household, Community and Public Toilets;

(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(c) the proportion of households which have toilets and number of houses connected to the sewer system?

(a & b): Government has enhanced the incentive provided for construction of Community Toilets from Rs. 26,000/- per seat to Rs. 39,200/- per seat. This has also been extended to the Public Toilets. Earlier, Public Toilets were constructed only under Public Private Partnership (PPP) Mode. There is no proposal for enhancement of incentive for construction of Individual Household Toilets.

(c): As per Census 2011, 81.4% households have toilets and 20.73 lakh more household toilets have been constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission. 32.7% households have piped sewer system.
