Question : INSURANCE AGENTS



(a) whether a college in private sector has been opened recently with a view to impart training to insurance agents;

(b) whether the establishment of such colleges is in accordance with the guidelines of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority;

(c) if so, the names of States where such colleges are proposed to be opened by the Government; and

(d) the concrete steps taken so far by the Government for setting up colleges for insurance agents?

(a)&(b): The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority(IRDA) has prescribed guidelines for grant of accreditation to institutions for imparting training to insurance agents. So far, 67 institutions, which fulfilled the requirements laid down by IRDA, have been granted accreditation by them.

(c):There is no such proposal under consideration of the Govt.

(d): Does not arise
