(a) whether the Government have prepared any plan for setting up of Biotechnological Research Centres and application courses at several places all over the country or assisting the State Governments in setting up such centres; and

(a) & (b) : Yes, Sir. The Government is implementing a Human Resource Development Programme comprising post-graduate teaching and training courses in various areas of Biotechnology at different Universities/Institutions in the country. The post-graduate teaching programmes are at the level of M.Sc., M.Tech., Post-Graduate diplomas and one year post MD/MS training courses. So far, the Department has supported 77 courses in 23 States(Annexure). Post Doctoral training programmes have been supported at 4 institutions (Annexure). As and when proposals are received from various Universities and Institutions, an expert committee examines them for financial support.
