Question : HOUSES FACILITIES IN METROPOLITAN CITIES



(a) whether the Government is contemplating any policy to for construction of cheaper houses for lower and middle income group people in view the rising prices of houses in metropolitan cities of the country;

(b) if so, the time by which the policy would be finalised;and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a)to(c): `Land` and `colonisation` being State subjects, it is primarily for the State Governments to provide for affordable houses for the people.However,the Central Government formulated the National Urban Housing and Habitat Policy(NUHHP), 2007 which has been laid on the Table of both Houses of the Parliament on 7.12.2007 and also widely circulated amongst various State Governments and other stakeholders.The policy focuses the spotlight on multiple stake-holders namely,the Private Sector,the Cooperative Sector,the Industrial Sector for labour housing and the Services/Institutional Sector for employee housing for realizing the goal of `Affordable Housing for All`.
