Question : LESS GAUGE TANKS OF HPCL IN DELHI



(a) whether in the petrol pumps of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation in Delhi, the tanks of diesel and petrol are of less gauge;

(b) if so, the action taken against the officers entrusted with the job of supervision of these tanks;

(c) whether amount have been recovered from the contractors after completion of this work; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) : During random inspection by Officers of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL), thickness of some tanks in a few petrol pumps in Delhi was found to be less than the specifications.

(b) : Delivery of these tanks was taken on the basis of inspection carried out by an approved third party inspection agency as per the terms of the purchase order. However, HPCL has been advised to conduct a departmental inquiry to fix responsibility for this lapse.

(c)&(d) : An amount of Rs.1,83,233/- has been deducted from the pending bills of the defaulting contractor.
