(a) whether the Government has taken any steps to meet the severe shortage of officers in Indian Foreign Service;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government is thinking of recruiting personnel from other civil services, armed forces and specialists from private sector to fill the severe shortage of officers in Indian Foreign Service; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d) Ministry is fully aware of the importance of cadre planning and management to appropriately augment its human resources. Accordingly, the Ministry is optimizing utilization of human resources through increasing recruitment in Indian Foreign Service, taking officers from other Ministries and Departments on deputation, including from the armed forces, and engaging consultants from private sector and academia.
