Question : Ajmer Smart City

(a) the details of the development works sanctioned/going on and funds involved under Smart Cities Mission (SCM) since the establishment of Ajmer Smart City Limited;

(b) the details of the works sanctioned and in progress in the city, year-wise;

(c) whether the public representatives and representatives of social and other organisations are called in the administrative meetings held from time to time with respect to the said project;

(d) if so, the details of the meetings held and the representatives who were present therein during the last three years;

(e) whether the residents of the city are facing several difficulties due to slow progress of the works due to administrative red tapism under the said SCM;

(f) if so, the details of the concrete steps being taken by the Government for the purpose;

(g) whether the Government proposes to lay eight-lane 400 meters synthetic track in place of natural tracks for athletics under SCM and if so, the details thereof and the time by which it is likely to be done; and

(h) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): Government of India launched Smart Cities Mission (SCM) on 25 June 2015. 100 Smart Cities have been selected through 4 rounds of competition from January 2016 to June 2018. Ajmer was selected for development as a Smart City in Round-2 of Smart City Challenge in September 2016.

As on 8 July, 2022, Government of India has released ? 392 crore for Ajmer Smart City out of which the City has already utilized ? 389.01 crore (99.2%). As on 8 July, 2022, out of 177 projects worth ? 2,223.63 crore, Ajmer Smart City has completed 147 projects worth ? 1,174.3 crore and 30 projects worth ? 1,049.33 crore are at work order stage.

(c) & (d): As per SCM Statement and Guidelines, a Smart City Advisory Forum (SCAF) is to be established at the city level to advise and enable collaboration among various stakeholders. It consists of Member(s) of Parliament, Member(s) of Legislative Assembly, Mayor, District Collector, local youth, technical experts, other stakeholders etc. All 100 Smart Cities, including Ajmer, have established their SCAFs. Ajmer Smart City have also informed that so far they have convened 8 meetings of SCAF and have invited all members of SCAF in these meetings.

(e) & (f): Ajmer Smart city have informed that the residents of the City are facing some difficulties on the roads where work of elevated road & sewerage is going-on. However, the Smart City is trying to reduce such difficulties by carrying out work during the night-time.

(g) & (h): Ajmer Smart City have informed that the work for eight-lane 400 meters synthetic track has been awarded and is likely to be completed by December 2022.
