(a) to (c): The strategic components of Area-based development in the Smart Cities Mission are city improvement (retrofitting), city renewal (redevelopment) and city extension (Greenfield development) plus a Pan-city initiative in which Smart Solutions are applied covering larger parts of the city. In the Mission, Smart City Proposals (SCPs) are prepared as part of the All India competition in close consultation with citizens. There is no plan for the development of the areas / villages adjoining the Smart Cities in the Smart City Proposals prepared by the 20 winning Smart Cities.
