Question : PM-KISAN Yojana

(a) whether the Government has recently agreed to comprehensively expand the ambit of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN);

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the salient features of the PM-KISAN scheme;

(c) whether the Government proposes to allocate Rs.12,305 crore to farmers every year under the said scheme;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the scheme intends to cover 3 crore retail traders and shopkeepers to get pension coverage and if so, the details thereof;

(f) whether other self-employed people would also benefit from the scheme; and

(g) whether there is an economic benchmark to avail this pension and if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): The ambit of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme, which was initially started to provide income support to all Small and Marginal landholder farmers’ families with cultivable land holding upto 2 hectare, has been extended to cover all farmers in the country, irrespective of the size of their land holdings, except those who are covered under the exclusion criteria relating to higher income status. The Scheme provides direct income support of Rs.6000/- per year, in three 4-monthly installments of Rs.2000/-, to the farmers in their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to enable them to take care of expenses related to agriculture and allied activities as well as domestic needs.

(c) & (d): No, Sir. Under the PM-Kisan Scheme, a financial provision of Rs.87,217.50 crore has been made for the financial year 2019-20, including administrative charges of Rs.217.50 crore.

(e): No, Sir.
