(a) whether the Government is planning to promote education relating to Astronomy in schools across the country and if so, the details thereof; and
(b) whether the Government proposes to develop Astronomy curriculum books for schools under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and if so, the details thereof?

(a) Based on the guiding principles of the present National Curriculum Framework (NCF), 2005, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has brought out model syllabi and textbooks across classes and subjects, which provide space to Knowledge, Traditions and Practices of India, including different aspects of astronomy and contribution of Indian Astronomers in integrated manner considering the developmental characteristics of learners at different stages.
(b) As a follow-up of National Education Policy, 2020, new National Curriculum Framework will be developed, which will guide the syllabus and textbook writers on the content and pedagogy based on the perspectives of the NEP, 2020.
