Question : Highway Development under Bharatmala Pariyojana

(a) the details of various highway development schemes being implemented under Bharatmala Pariyojana;
(b) the details and the length of highways being built under this pariyojana as on date, State-wise including Tamil Nadu; and
(c) whether the Government is planning to execute road infrastructure projects worth rupees seven lakh crore over the next two-three years and if so, the details thereof along with the source of budget for implementing these projects?

(a) to (b) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) had approved the proposal for investment approval for Phase-I of “Bharatmala Pariyojana” on 24.10.2017, spanning for the period of 5 years. Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase–I includes development of about 24,800 km NH network such as Economic corridors, Inter-corridor & feeder roads, National Corridors Efficiency Improvements, Border and International Connectivity roads, Coastal and Port Connectivity roads, Expressways as well as 10,000 km of roads under balance NHDP.
Out of 34,800 km length envisaged for development under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I in the Country, NH projects comprising length of 20,411 km have been awarded. State-wise details, including Tamil Nadu, are tabulated below:

(c) National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) envisages total investments of about Rs. 14,22,000 crore for National Highways (NHs) from 2019-20 to 2024-25. During 2022-23, total investment of about Rs. 2,32,000 crore is estimated for development of NHs which comprises of about Rs. 1,87,000 crore from Budgetary support, Rs. 15,000 crore from Special Purpose Vehicle and Rs. 30,000 crore from Private Investment.
