Question : PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN BY NDMA



(a) the major projects taken up by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), since its inception in 2005 for Disaster Mitigation in the country;

(b) the funds allocated/released/utilized for these projects during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise and project-wise;

(c) whether cases of alleged irregularities in the implementation of the projects or abandoning projects mid-way have been received; and

(d) If so, the details thereof and the action taken in this regard?

(a) to (d) A statement is laid on the Table of the House.

STATEMENT IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) to (d) TO THE STARRED QUESTION NO. 2 TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 24.02.2015.

(a) and (b) As per section 6 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, NDMA has the primary responsibility for laying down the policies, plans and guidelines for disaster management for ensuring timely and effective response to disaster. It is not mandated to take up projects for implementation as such. The details of the major mitigation projects taken up by NDMA since its inception in 2005 and the funds allocated/released/utilized during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise and project-wise, are given in Annexure I.

(c)and (d) No major project taken up by NDMA has been abandoned mid-way. No major allegation regarding irregularities in implementation of any mitigation project has been received.
