(a) the number of proposals sent by the various State Governments including Andhra
Pradesh under AIBP during the last three years;
(b) the number of proposals out of them cleared by the Union Government as on date;
(c) whether the Union Government has received proposals from the Government of Andhra
Pradesh requesting for taking up large irrigation projects as Central Projects; and
(d) if so, the present status of the proposals?

(a) & (b) The information is being collected from States/Central Water Commission and
will be laid on the floor of the House.
(c) & (d) The Government of Andhra Pradesh has sent proposals in accordance with
guidelines of the scheme of national projects for inclusion of Indira Sagar (Polavaram)
and J.Chokkarao Lift Irrigation Scheme to the Union Government for inclusion in the scheme
of national projects. As per guidelines of the scheme of national projects, a new project
for inclusion in the scheme of national projects requires approval of Expenditure Finance
Committee/Projects Investment Board, approval of High Powered Steering Committee for National
Project and finally approval of the Union Cabinet. Polavaram project is to be taken up for
consideration of the Expenditure Finance Committee after revised investment clearance to the
revised estimated cost is accorded by the Planning Commission.
