(a) whether Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) is becoming a transit point for drug smuggling;

(b) if so, the number of drug smugglers caught and the quantity of drugs seized from them during each of the last three years and the current year; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government to prevent drug smuggling through International airports?

(c) Various steps including strict surveillance and enforcement at export/import points of the Airport, installation of display boards at airports to spread awareness about the punishment provided under the law for drug trafficking and its abuse. Sensitization and training of drug law enforcement agencies are also done to enhance their enforcement capacity against new modus operandi so as to check drug smuggling through the airports.
