Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI R. P. N. SINGH)

(a) & (b) The total length of Lucknow – Kanpur section of NH-25 is 80.960 Km. The stretch from Km.0.00 to Km.59.190 is already four laned. Four laning work from Km.59.190 to Km.75.500 has been substantially completed excluding ROB on Unnao - Bighapur Railway line, which is in progress and this stretch of 16.31 Km is likely to be fully completed by August, 2011. The stretch from Km.75.500 to Km.80.960 involves construction of bridge over river Ganga and elevated corridor between Jajmau to Ramadevi. The work in this stretch is slow due to various reasons like land acquisition problem in 1.5 Km, existence of huge earthen mound (Jajmau Tila) under the protection of Uttar Pradesh Archeological Department (UPAD) and poor mobilisation of man and machinery by the Contractor. Due to these reasons, the progress of work is 29.88 per cent at present. Now, the above stated hurdles are almost cleared and the work is being accelerated, which is likely to be completed by March, 2012.

(c) & (d) The toll is levied for the section from Lucknow to Unnao (Km.11.380 to Km.59.190) only which has already been four laned.
