Question : Puttur-Attipattu New Railway Line

(a) whether the Government has any proposal to sanction New Railway line from Puttur-Attipattu via Nagalapuram, Pitchatur of Chittor District of Andhra Pradesh;
(b) if so, the details thereof;

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2620 BY SHRI BALLI DURGA PRASAD RAO TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 04.12.2019 REGARDING PUTTUR-ATTIPATTU NEW RAILWAY LINE
(a) to (d): Attipattu-Puttur new line project via Nagalapuram and Pichachatur (88.30 Km) was sanctioned during 2008-09. Latest cost of this project is ` 1105 crore. An expenditure of ` 3.34 crore has been incurred upto March, 2019 and an outlay of ` 2 crore has been provided for this project for the year 2019-20.
This project was sanctioned in September, 2011 on 50:50 cost sharing with Ennore Port Trust (EPT), Ministry of Shipping. However, EPT in November, 2012 withdrew from the project and stated that they would not share the cost of the project as the anticipated traffic in the section is not expected to be realized.
Final Location Survey was completed and indent for land acquisition for 189.43 hectare was submitted to Government of Tamil Nadu on 30.11.2011 and for 181.55 hectare was submitted to Government of Andhra Pradesh on 13.03.2012.
However, the Hon’ble High Court of Madras has declared Tamil Nadu Industrial Purposes Act 1997 as illegal and quashed all land acquisition process vide judgement dt. 03.07.2019 and accordingly, land acquisition process could not be taken forward.
